Walter Ray Norton

Walter Ray Norton Sr., age 82, passed away Sunday February 1, 2026, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was born April 20, 1943, in Grand Rapids, the son of Walter Ray Norton Sr. and Erma Pearl Stibitz.

There are no words to describe how special of a man he was. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and favorite uncle. He was a jokester and loved chatting with anyone in his presence or with a “quick” phone call. He had so much love for his family and friends and an unmatched passion for the Detroit Lions. His presence of comfort, love and laughter will be missed by all who were honored to know him.

Walter is survived by his wife Janice; children Walter Ray Norton, Jr., LD Ray Norton and Linda Lehman; five grandchildren Alex (Brittany) Norton, Whitney (Chris) Hammond, Brooke (Tyler) Case, Taylor Lehman and Lindsay Lehman; great grandchildren; Mason, Owen, Ryker, Ross Taiden, Alice, Scarlett, Toby, Roarke and Idalia. He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven brothers and sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.   A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday March 8, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Pierson Fire Barn, 190 Grand St., Pierson, MI 49339.
