Virginia Schooley

Virginia Schooley, age 91 of Greenville passed away at her home on Monday, January 19, 2026. She was born on October 12, 1934 in Ionia the daughter of Lyle and Naomi (Blackford) Ball. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. She liked to do puzzles and coloring along with birdwatching, reading and loved playing the piano. In 1954 she married Raymond Schooley in Ionia. They were together until 1988 when Raymond passed. She helped start and operate Hilltop Sports which was established in 1989. She also helped operate Schooley Manufacturing that her Father-in-law started. She did all the bookwork for both businesses well into her 80’s. Virginia is survived by her sons and daughters along with a son in law; Pamela Teal of Wyoming, Michigan, Peggy (Robert) Stoudt of Vestaburg, Michael Schooley of N. Carolina, Mary Cliff of Jenison, Joseph Schooley and Katherine Schooley both of Greenville. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Jeb (Nina) Schooley, Benjamin (Maria) Schooley, Jillian Cliff, Scott Cliff, Tiffany (Eric) Pell and Kyle Larsen and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband along with her brother Charles Ball and sister’s Barbara Hopkins and Joann Miller. Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 24,2026 at 11AM with visitation from 10 AM till the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes.
