Ruth M. (Hansen) Kraft

Ruth M. (Hansen) Kraft, age 95, formerly of Greenville, passed away peacefully, April 7, 2022, surrounded by her family at Green Acres of Cedar Springs. She was born October 15,1926 in Greenville, the daughter of Danish immigrants, Martin and Dagny (Nielsen) Hansen. On October 1, 1949, she married Hubert W. Kraft, they were married 71 years until his passing in 2021. Ruth was a 1944 graduate of Greenville High School and for 60 years seven of her classmates held an annual reunion. They were Ruth, Donna (Cannon) Buchholz, Barbara (Larsen) Corey, Priscilla (Barnes) Campbell, Marilyn (Hansen) Christensen, Phyllis (Kraft) Shaver, Lucille (Peckham) Kortes.  Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served as treasurer for many years.  More recently she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  Ruth served as a 4-H leader teaching many members to sew.  Ruth and Hubert enjoyed traveling, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in Australia and New Zealand.  Ruth is survived by her five daughters, Diane (William) Moore of Lansing, Debra (Randy) Ramsey of Vernon Hills IL, Carla (James) Pocan of Holt, Lori (David) O’Brien of Greenville, and June (Kevin) Newell of Kettering, OH; grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Pocan of Grand Ledge, Scott (Brooke) Pocan of Charlotte, Brian (Sarah) Moore of Lansing, Rachael Ramsey of Chicago, Benjamin Newell of Cleveland, OH, Caitlin Ramsey of The Hague, Netherlands, and Danielle Newell of Beavercreek, OH; great-granddaughters, Landyn, Scarlett and Juliet Pocan and Indila and Ariana Moore; brother-in-law Bob Kraft of Greenville; sister-in-law Elizabeth (Dick) Schenden of Boyne City. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, her brother-in-law, Richard Kraft and sisters-in-law, Joan Kraft and Martha Kraft. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at Green Acres of Cedar Springs and Interim Hospice for her care. Memorial Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Betsy Kamphuis officiating. Members of the family will meet with friends and relatives from 10 AM till the service. Interment will be in East Montcalm Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.  Arrangements are by the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with complete obituary online at www.marshallfuneralhomeinc.com where you can leave a message of condolence for the family.
