Rusty Allan Nichols, II

August 23, 1995 — April 14, 2026

Stanton

Rusty Allan Nichols, II age 30, passed away April 14, 2026. He was born August 23, 1995 in Greenville, the son of Rusty Sr. & Bobbi Jo (Steinburg) Nichols. He grew up with a spirit of adventure that carried into adulthood and was often found on his skateboard or bike, navigating the world with a sense of freedom and an infectious laugh that could brighten the darkest of days.

Rusty was a proud member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. His Native American heritage was a cornerstone of his identity, and he carried the values of his ancestors—respect, community, and a deep connection to all living things—into every space he entered. This was perhaps most evident in his profound love for animals; Rusty possessed a unique gift for providing a safe home to creatures in need, reflecting his loving and protective soul.

To know Rusty was to know a man who lived with rare honesty. He was a "one of a kind" human who didn't need many words to make an impact. Instead, he carried a spirit that was entirely his own—authentic, genuine, and deeply kind. Whether he was enjoying a cheeseburger or spending time with his family, he lived life on his own terms and was that rare human who simply lived his life true to who he was. While he had some rough travels, he was firmly on the path out of that when he was called to journey beyond this Earth.

Rusty’s heart belonged to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Amber Nichols, and his children: Lilly Nichols, Athenarose Nichols, Zendaya Nichols, Jonathyn Miller, and Devlan Miller. He also leaves behind his father, Rusty Nichols, Sr.; his siblings, Travis (Nicole) Nichols, Angela Roszell, Heather (Jarid) Benoite, and Allen Roszell; and a large extended family of friends and community members.

He will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters at Outreach 419, where he was a cherished member of the community. His legacy of love for his family, his people, and the vulnerable among us will continue to inspire the Fenwick community and beyond.

“He may not have said much at times, but he carried into any space a spirit that could only be his own.”

In honor of Rusty, the family asks that you live authentically and show kindness to an animal in need. Memorial services to be announced.

A Memorial Dinner and bonfire will be Friday April 24, 2026 at Outreach 419, 235 Fenwick Rd in Fenwick. Memorial contributions in Rusty’s name can be made to the family for expenses.
