O.B. "Pete" G. Nichols

O.B. Berton “Pete” Nichols, Jr. age 66 of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 under Corewell Hospice. He was born September 12, 1959 in Greenville, the son of Virginia R. (Ritter) and O.B. Berton Nichols, Sr. He loved to grow tomatoes and green peppers for homemade stewed tomatoes. He also loved to have bonfires in the back yard and clean yards especially for Butch and Betty Miller whom were like parents to him. Pete is survived by his wife Tami; children Michael (Becky) Lamb of Six Lakes, Joshua Garrett of Grand Rapids and Eva Thornberg of Ithaca; grandchildren Celsie Garrett, Joshua Garrett, Jr., Michelle Garrett, Mersaydeez Garrett, Alex Reyes, Lucas Reyes, Ginger Lamb, Nevaeh Garrett and Zayne Baker-Garrett, Riley Painter and Joanna Thornberg; sisters Rose Mary (Jay) Hodges, Rose Marie Bush, Virginia Herroon all of Greenville; brother Rusty Nichols of Greenville; aunts Shirley Sly of Greenville and Edith Cooper of Pierson; uncles, Richard (Shirley) Nichols of Morley and William (Val) Nichols of Greenville, several nieces and nephews; three sisters in law and one brother in law. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons James Garrett, Jr. and William Garrett, Jr. and his brothers Terry and Jerry Nichols. A celebration of life will be held later.
