Maxine Lorraine Scott

August 6, 1928 — October 5, 2024

Comstock Park

Maxine Lorraine Scott (Marshall), aged 96, of Comstock Park, peacefully entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, October 5, 2024. She was lovingly cared for at home by her daughters, and caregivers. The family thanks Corewell Health Hospice for their direction in Maxine’s final days and are at peace knowing that she is in the presence of the Lord. Maxine was born in Grand Rapids to Thomas & Helen Marshall. She is survived by her former husband William Scott Jr. (Norma), children Joanne Fallon, Christopher (Kathy Dugas), James (Kathe), Margaret Barnes (Dennis), Mary Wabeke (Mark), and Karen Tulik (Brian), 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friend Lucille Szoka. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, brother Leo Marshall (Lee), sister Barbara Rozema (Jack), grandson Nicholas Scott, son-in-law Dennis Fallon, and long-time friend Barbara Obetts. She attended St. James Catholic School and Catholic Central High School. She had a very full life raising six children, working at Michigan Bell and AT&T, and was an active member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish in Belmont for over 70 years. She made lifelong friends through volunteer work with the Consolata Guild, Assumption School, Cub Scouts, Butterworth Hospital, American Cancer Society, Kent County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, and Comstock Park Boosters. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, playing piano, singing, theatre, traveling, and gardening. Every day was met with a positive attitude, kind words, and a big smile. She was quick to laugh, had a forgiving and compassionate heart, and always spread love, patience, and gentleness with those around her. Her Catholic faith was the center of her life and she shared this knowledge with her children and grandchildren. Her reward for a lifetime of support, encouragement, service to others, faith and unfailing cheerfulness in the face of adversity is eternal rest with Our Lord. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to Assumption BVM Parish Church and Grounds Beautification Fund or the Consolata Missionary Sisters of the parish. Please note Maxine Scott on your contribution. Visitation is Tuesday, October 8, 5-7pm at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI 49306. Rosary to follow beginning at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass is Wednesday, October 9, at 11:00am at Assumption BVM Parish, 6393 Belmont Avenue NE, Belmont, MI 49306. Visitation one hour prior. Arrangements are being handled by the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with complete obituary online at www.marshallfuneralhomeinc.com where you can leave a message of condolence for the family.
