Marvin E. Olsen

Marvin E. Olsen age 86, of Greenville, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, at Mission Point of Greenville. H was born September 30, 1934 in Greenville, the son of Jay L. & Elouise M. (Brown) Olsen. He was a member of Community of Christ Church of Greenville and when he retired from Electrolux, he had 44 years and had the most seniority of the whole plant. When his kids were young you could always count on him packing the car and spending the weekends in Vogel Center at the cabin then adding the cottage at Lake Leelanau. He also loved camping with his family and his greatest joy was picking on the grandkids while camping. His famous saying to his grandkids when they were younger was my name is Sue how do you do. He also loved oil painting and wanted to paint them little happy trees like Bob Ross which he never missed an episode of. Marvin is survived by his children Mary (Gilbert) Jewell and Michael Olsen both of Greenville; grandchildren Gilbert Jr. (Kristi) Jewell of Grand Haven and Melinda (Kevyn) Ashbay of Hudsonville; great grandchildren Elizabeth Jewell and Morgan Ashbay; stepchildren Nathan (Tammy) Heaven and Matthew (Angie) Heaven; step grandchildren Ethan, Makenzie, Joe, Nick and Anthony; sister Gloria (Gerald) McPherson of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Donna Olsen, second wife Carol Olsen, son Steven Olsen and a step son Daniel Heaven. Visitation will be Friday evening from 7 to 8:30. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with Dick Wiley officiating. Burial will be in South Sidney Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Marvin’s name to Special Olympics in memory of his son Steven.
