Lou Smith

Lou Smith age 83, of Stanton, formerly of Greenville, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Hospital in Greenville. She was born October 27, 1933 in Greenville, the daughter of Burley Hans & Margaret Dorothy (Frownfelder) Nielsen. She was a member of the American Legion Post #101 Auxiliary in Greenville, loved to bowl, golf and knit and spent many winters in Florida with her late husband Vic. Lou is survived by her son Dennis Smith of Belding; daughter in law Wendy & (Patrick) Tran of Greenville; 5 grandchildren Charlie Smith, Marc Smith, Carmon & (Jason) Hall, Tara & (Chris) Lawson and Jordan & (Cara) Smith; 5 great grandchildren Ava & Scarlet Smith, Graham & Lydia Lawson and Hazel Hall; sisters Ardith Deitz, Dorothy Lyons and her sister in law Anna Nielsen. She was preceded in death by her husband Vic, sons David and Dean, twin sister Margaret Whitney, sister Mercedes Stapleton, her brothers Edward "Pete" Nielsen and Vern Nielsen. Visitation will be 11 AM followed by Funeral Services at 12 NOON Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial will be in Ashley Cemetery, with a luncheon immediately following at the American Legion in Greenville.
