Lois Joyce Ives, age 97, of Gowen and formerly of Comstock Park passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 12, 2026. She was born on August 21,1928, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Leon G. and Josephine L. (Mangold) Koperski. Lois was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, camping, and a wide variety of arts and crafts. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Class of 1946, and continued her education at Aquinas College. In 1949 Lois married Edwin Ives. Early in her adult life she worked briefly as a kindergarten teacher. She then for more than 25 years was a loving homemaker before beginning a long and dedicated career with AT&T where she was employed for more than 20 years. She was a devoted servant of God as a sacristan and a Eucharistic minister. She also performed many other tasks within the church as were needed. Lois is survived by her nine children: Cheryl George, Jeanne Thompson, Karen (Mike) Thompson, Lynette (Brian) Meaney, Kevin Ives, Brian Ives, Michelle Kassin, Alicia (Bert) Sharp, and Leslie (Dan) Gager, 32 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, with one more expected, and her sister, Marilyn Kaminski. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Edwin Ives, her son, Kenneth Ives, her brother, Richard Koperski, her sister-in-law, Delores Koperski, her brother-in-law, Edward Kaminski and her grandson, Daniel Sharp. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Marshall Funeral Home in Greenville, with a Rosary at 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 16, 2026, at St. Charles Catholic Church, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Flat River Right to Life. Arrangements are entrusted to Marshall Funeral Home Greenville.
