Kristie Anne Huntley, age 55 of Gowen. lost her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on December 7, 2020. Kristie was born at Butterworth Hospital on April 26, 1965. She is preceded in death by her parents Astra Dorwin and Joseph James Dorwin. Kristie is deeply missed by her husband and life partner Albert (Al) Huntley of Gowen, her children Jaclynn (Adam) Duram of Gowen, Tanner Smith of Greenville, Ryan (Jessica) Huntley of Greenville, Megan (Jason) Vargo of Holland as well as five grandchildren Mason, Parker, Alaina, Abigail and Emilia; siblings Thomas Dorwin (Cheryl) of Rockford , Timothy Dorwin (Lisa) of Dexter, Joseph Dorwin (Tonya) of Cedar Springs and Robert Cook (Nicki) of Sand Lake, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A 1983 graduate of Cedar Springs High School and Grand Rapids Community College, Kristie worked for many years as a dental hygienist in Cedar Springs and Grand Rapids, and also served as a corporate officer and property manager for her family’s plumbing and real estate businesses. Kristie and Al were very active in the Greenville/Gowen community. She loved to travel, spend time at their lake cottage with her grandchildren and family, and she spent many springs and summers looking for “treasures” at yard sales and flea markets with her mother Astra and daughter Jacki. She also had a deep love of animals, single handedly rescuing dozens of abandoned puppies, kittens and “senior” animals over the years including her beloved lab “Abby”. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic no services will be held at this time. The family asks those considering flowers to instead make a contribution to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org/donate) or perhaps Montcalm County Animal Control. Kristie would say “Get your pets fixed folks… it’s the kind thing to do”.
