J. David “Dave” Oliver, Sr.

J. David “Dave” Oliver, Sr., age 69, of Belding, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2017, at his home. He was born February 12, 1948, in Detroit, the son of H. Wendell & Opal N. (Sizemore) Oliver. Dave was a member of the Grand Rapids International Fellowship Church of the Nazarene who loved Jesus and his family. He was also fond of sports, reading, golf, and working with his hands. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it, and no one was a stranger to Dave for very long. He is survived by his wife Carol; children Elizabeth & (Eric) Kosten of Wyoming, Michigan, James D. Oliver, Jr. of Cedar Springs, Michigan, and Rebecca M. Oliver of Baltimore, Maryland; one grandson, Garret J. Kosten; sister Carol S. Cobb of Ocala, Florida; brother-in-law John DeGraffenreid of Westland; sister-in-law MaryAnna & (James) Klinker of Rockford, and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Strey, his sister Patricia DeGraffenreid, and his brother-in-law John S. Dye, Sr. A memorial service will be held 1 PM Friday, April 14, 2017, at the Grand Rapids International Fellowship Church of the Nazarene. Memorial contributions can be made in Dave’s name to Heartland Hospice or the church.
