Frances Wheeler Hoppough

Frances Wheeler Hoppough age 94, of Greenville, passed away September 6, 2014 at Twin Oaks Retirement Home near Gowen. She was born June 13, 1920 and grew up on the family farm at Bass Lake, the daughter of H. Julius and Vivian Nielsen along with her sister Helen. As a young girl she attended Pleasant Hill County School and later graduated from Greenville High. She married Ivan Wheeler and made her home in Greenville working at Clark’s Flowers, Gittlemans and White Consolidated, Inc. She was an avid reader, enjoyed dancing to Big Band music and nature walks. Frances volunteered her time to community service work with the American Legion, serving several terms as a convention delegate, secretary and president of the Women’s Auxiliary and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She later married Mark Hoppough and lived in Ionia. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Janice of Spring Lake; half brothers Delos Nielsen of Gowen and Rex Nielsen of Cedar Springs and by her several nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Ivan Wheeler, second husband Mark Hoppough and her sister Helen. Private Services will be held. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sharing Hearts and Lives at Twin Oaks, Gowen or the American Legion Post #101 of Greenville.
