Dorothy Irene Simpkins

Dorothy Irene Simpkins, age 92, of Belding formerly of Gowen, passed away Wednesday, December 21st , 2022 at Mission Point of Belding. She was born July 25, 1930, the daughter of Leo G. & Florence (Church) Bonner. She was a 1949 graduate of South High School in Grand Rapids and was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church. Irene is survived by her children Charles (Rebecca) Pleune of Belding, Margaret Werderits of Grand Rapids, Ronald (Sally) Pleune of Cedar Springs, Bruce Pleune of Minnesota and Bernice (William) Reinhard of Baldwin . She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick Pleune in 1973; second husband, Stuart Simpkins, in 2013; her parents; and son Norman Pleune in 1990. Visitation will be at Marshall Funeral Home in Greenville on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 beginning at noon with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 pm with Pastor Betsy Kampuis officiating. Please note the day of the burial has been changed by the cemetery and will now be held Thursday, December 28th, 2022 at 10:00am at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery in Grand Rapids. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Irene’s name to the Humane Society of West Michigan or the American Lung Association.
